Building Energy Efficiency and Solar-Readiness

It was good to see the Sacramento Bee noticing the positive changes in energy efficiency standards put forward by the California Energy Commission recently. DECA commented on these proposed changes arguing that they did not go far enough – in particular that “solar ready” should include readily accessible mounting hardware for solar installations rather than just southerly orientation and unencumbered roof space. Unfortunately the more expansive definition of “solar ready” will have to wait until the next three year cycle comes into being.

I have made several attemps to contact PGE, and everytime I call, I get another run around. First side step was :Customers are getting service in ten weeks.” Then it was 6 to 8 weeks. Today I was told that they could proceed unless I gave them the PASS WORD. What the heck is going on? I was never given a pass word. I don’t like people at PGE peeing on my back and telling me that it ie raining. I would like to beging my solar summer, whille it is still summer. Gov Brown and our Senators all need a wake up call.
